Jonathan Chao is an Asian American director, photographer, and screenwriter based in Los Angeles. He recently graduated from Chapman University with an MFA in Film Directing, following a BA in Anthropology and a minor in Film and TV from UCLA. 
As a person of color, Jonathan is dedicated to amplifying marginalized voices through his work, both in front of and behind the camera. He gravitates toward coming-of age narratives that explore the intricacies of adolescence, resilience amidst adversity, and the complexities of familial bonds. His film, Xander, has been showcased at film festivals nationwide, including the San Diego International Film Festival and Dances With Films NY.
Jonathan currently works as an assistant in the production department at WME (William Morris Endeavor). Previously, he has completed development internships at companies such as Amazon MGM Studios & Prime Video, Plan B Entertainment, and Blumhouse.
